13/01/11 Horse Racing Tips and Results

Southwell

1.00 – #1 Prince James Prince James
Not brilliant in his last here as a combination of weights and a wide draw got him struggling in rear, however previous starts show he’s capable given the right conditions. Now dropped in class, weighted to his abilities and middle drawn set him in a position where he can prove himself. David Simmonson is on board, had him in three starts, one win and one 2nd placing, should be able to lead the horse to land 1st.

Came last

3.00 – #4 The Lock Master The Lock Master
Had a decent go at the current grade and proven to have abilities in the field as well as handling the trip. Last three starts under Neil Chalmer, on board the 4 year old again for this run, conducted well and resulting in placing. Top speed at his side and with the nemesis Dubai Hills out of the frame, stands a good chance here.

Won @ 4/1

3.30 – #4 Striker Torres Striker Torres
Landing a terrific 2nd to Hulcote Rose over slow going and higher grade than current run after a long absence. This time one grade lower and standard going give a fair chance for this 5 year old to overpower the Dubai Hills which is weighted excessively and will probably struggle under. Tom Eaves on board definitely knows his way and should prove the team up once more.

3rd @ 7/2

4.00 – #6 Gold Story Gold Story
Last three starts here ran well and should go well this time around also, drop in trip gives him advantage. Weighted same as last run where placing 2nd to Penrod Ballantyne, an unexpected outsider who landed at 25/1. This time no surprises expected, drawn reasonably and teamed up with Jimmy Quinn once more who placed the 4 year old in his last two starts and should be able to land a win this time.

2nd @ 2/1

12/01/11 Horse Racing Tips and Results

Lingfield

12.40 – #5 Fifth In Line Fifth In Line
Constantly placing in all of her starts, last three at grade 5 and now dropped in grade and should find a bit extra to give in this run. Obviously able on distance though no win record for her in trip and field, weighted as in her last starts and will also handle the relatively wide draw she’s been given. Same jockey as last three starts.

Won @ 10/11

1.15 -#5 Kahfre Kahfre
Held well in recent starts over hurdles at grade 4 and ran a decent 3rd here in his last same grade as current. Will handle the weights and draw and should benefit the low number of runners in the field.

3rd @ 11/8

3.35 – #7 Goodye Cash Goodbye Cash
Running well here in her last 4 starts, and has previous course and distance records. Andrew Heffernan on board, been riding her a lot lately which suggests he’ll have a way with her. Draw is lowest and should benefit from it, weights of no issue here.

3rd @ 16/1

11/01/11 Horse Racing Tips and Results

Southwell

12.50 – #4 Your Gifted Your Gifted
In peak form of late and performs well in this field. Leading contender in this small race, placing 2nd in a similar run in his last one grade higher than current and so should prove worthy of this one this time landing win. No significant change in the weights and draw not relevant as this is a 4 runner trial. James Sullivan on board will handle the filly all the way to finish line.

2nd @ 6/4

1.20 – #1 Odin's Raven Odin’s Raven
Course and distance winner in his last here when breaking maiden under heavy weights, now dropped in grade running same field and trip and weighted reasonably. accustomed to multi runner trials and will have no problem overpowering the rest of contenders in the card.

4th

1.50 – #7 Six Of Clubs Six Of Clubs
Brilliant in his last two starts here, course and distance winner plus proving better for longer trip. Drawn wide however shown he’s capable of handling such, same as his last two starts where drawn rather wide but handled well. Weights won’t hold him back from stretching the full extent of his powers, having a Kieren Fox team up who mounted the 5 year old in his last two starts. Has all stable mates running to form suggesting his possibilities here.

3rd @ 15/8

3.50 – #3 Elusive Warrior Elusive Warrior
A Southwell veteran having nine wins in the field and numerous placing all under same conditions as current run. Shane Kelly on board, who’ve had previous runs well conducted with this 8 year old and should have a chance to lead a win. Weights a bit of an issue however not the first time trialed under such and already proven to handle.

4th

Wolverhampton

3.05 – #8 Downhill Skier Downhill Skier
Course and distance winner, no disgrace in his last two starts coming 4th. Now at favorable conditions as drawn low and not heavily weighted which should help him deliver better performance for this run. The only threat comes from Rubenstar but now drawn wide and under heavy penalty and will probably struggle to get ahead.

Finished 4th

4.05 – #5 Sparking Sparking
Performs well in this field and proved her abilities in current grade.  Slightly lowered in weights since last two starts and drawn well for this ride. Graham Gibbons mount the 4 year old filly, proven with her at Wolverhampton and should do the same here.

Finished 3rd @ 11/2

5.05 –  #5 Iguacu Iguacu
A decent run in his last at Lingfield and a surprising win landing at 7/1. Course and distance winner, weighted modestly and should be able to handle the draw.

Southwell

1.10 – #1 Thoughtsofstardom Thoughtsofstardom
Course and distance winner, not a consistent sort however a veteran runner who knows how to handle fibersand and is capable of landing a surprise in the field. Biggest threat comes from Kheley, a 5 year old mare which outrun him a month ago. The two have had their share of battles and it appears as though when drawn wide, Thoughts manage to overpower this mare which is the same case for this run. Also, not heavily weighted above her and so stands a true chance of beating her.

Finished 8th

2.45 – #1 Everymanforhimself Everymanforhimself
Much more experienced than leading contender Dubai Hills, Decent form in 4 last starts and should keep up the good run. Philip Makin teamed up, already proven to handle the 7 year old the right way here and at Lingfield about a month ago. Not ideally drawn but will handle and with Dubai drawn next to him should have the opportunity to beat the fav.

Finished 3rd @ 13/2

3.55 – #4 Itsthursdayalready Itsthursdayalready
Leading contender in this run and though no win here, holds a a fair form in his last 4 starts. Drawn beautifully and threatened only by Double Carpet which is carrying a massive penalty and will struggle to get ahead with the run, so big advantage here for our pick.  Has previous score in higher grades and with this drop in trip to 6f should be able to find his way reaching the finish line 1st.

Won @ 6/4
