Lingfield & Wolverhampton

Lingfield

2.00 – #4 Jonny Ebeneezer Jonny Ebeneezer
Failed last time following a row of 3 decent starts, ran without the usual eye shields and blinkers from a wide draw which is probably why he ran so poor. Not a Lingfield star but with refitted headgear and mid draw stands a chance of placing and even winning if getting on a got break. Jockey bears mild stats nevertheless had a relatively small number of starts so all in all not too bad.

3.30 – #3 Waterloo Dock Waterloo Dock
Last twice were horrible but now dropped in class and trying his effort in a seller once more. Course and distance winner, had a break of one month which might help coming back to previous form. Playing at Lingfield pretty well, drawn well and will hold weights. Teamed up with Martin Dwyer which lead the 6 year old in a few successful starts, showing good stats and believed to lead well.

Wolverhampton

8.30 – #5 Polemica Polemica
Course and distance winner and though not running well here in last starts gave a decent run coming no more than 3 lengths each time and can still bounce for this run. Drawn well and carries weights well withing her scale. Booked with James Doyle which should lead well given his experience with this 5 year old mare.

Lingfield & Southwell

Southwell

4.00 – #6 Parahelion Parahelion
A recent course and distance winner, consistent and running well in his last starts and should be involved here once more. At least one contender in this field he’s superior to, Calculating which he beat last start under tougher conditions now and though the latter is an outsider for this run still poses a threat to the entire group of runners. Booked with Jack Mitchell, lead him to win last time and shows excellent stats for distance, course and race type alike which all together with last success and Parahelion’s consistent character will surely guarantee a good run for these two. Up 4lb for latest win but dropped significantly in allocated weights for this run and should benefit this ease. Several rivals in this race including Calculating, Mush Mir, Exemplary and La Estrella. Mush Mir, top contender and brilliant runner now carrying same weights as last run where he won and biding for a fourth timer, high chances for him but proved over 12f and 16f but never in between as this run of 14f and not of the question he’ll go lost in the margin, also booked with a mild jockey which might comply with stats and fail this run. Exemplary, winning last two at class 4 and booked with Silvestre De Sousa once more but is yet prove on course and distance and comes off a short break, same as Mush Mir. Last but not least, La Estrella, course and distance winner with 4 claimer wins in a row and not much hope for the 8 year old in this highly competitive handicapper.

That said, 1 point e/w advised on Calculating for coming close to both Parahelion and Mush Mir who’s a fav for this run.

5.00 – #6 Six Of Clubs Six Of Clubs
Course and distance winner, a Southwell player and one of the only runners here to prove on both C&D. The fact he’s ridden by a 7lb claimer cannot be dismissed as it is more than likely to have a negative affect however Jake Payne enthusiasm and need to gather up the wins might come in handy here. Drawn well in this mid field of 9 runners and carries reasonable weights. May find the danger in Hindu Kush, but as carries top weights, drawn wide and unproven over C&D, little hope for him. A tougher rival is Davana, a recent maiden winner which did well in her last coming a fine 2nd, is drawn and weighted well and goes under Paul Hanagan but not sure to hold on longer trip.
2nd @ 11/4 – 1 point

Lingfield

4.10 – #2 Cape Melody Cape Melody
Course and distance winner and though a bit weak in runs preceding last win still shows sufficient strength and consistency in last starts and throughout her career. Not beyond current class and has carried allocated weights before with reasonable outcomes so no worry here. Booked with Jimmy Fortune, one of top jockeys for current course and one which bears promising stats as regard this run, more successful with 2 and 3 year old nevertheless shows decent SR for 4 year old and no reason why shouldn’t succeed mount this one. Battle against Six Wives who’s an in form class 5 runner but is yet to prove on distance, had her last Lingfield run conducted more than a year ago, is ridden by a 7lb claimer and won’t appreciate allocated weights. Also opposed by Mary’s Pet which holds a recent course and distance but is far from consistent  and got back to class 5 only recently.

Towcester & Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton

3.20 – #1 QuinsmanQuinsman
Had his coming off a break start conducted around early February where running quite well, gone silent for another month and a half  and now back running a small class 5 field. Conditions a bit tough carrying top weights as penalized 5lb and running 2 furlong more than his usual but believed to stay on and has proven able on allocated weights in the past. Opposed by stable mate Rosewood Lad which has every right to be declared as the guaranteed winner here however Cathy Gannon‘s tendency of failing with favs and decent runners might come in handy for him.

1 point win @ 7/2 with William Hill
Came last – 2 point

3.50 – #4 Tevez Tevez
A strong runner who was given a two months break after weak performance at two class 4 starts, now back to class 5 and will benefit the extra half furlong to trip distance. Drawn mid and running small field which is good for him, weighted same as December run where 2nd to Hinton Admiral by half a length so no issue on the weights, especially with the drop in class. Proven on distance and though yet to prove on course has managed complimenting performance in current course. Booked jockey seems decent and no reason why shouldn’t lead well. Threatened by Faithful Ruler, an in form contender booked with Luke Morris but now running a handicap after a long series of sellers and claimers and bears top weights. Another possible is Symphonic Dancer, a close up maiden runner doing well in her last two but now running a handicap debut and doubts for her.

1 point win @ 4/1 with Bet365

Towcester

5.00 – #3 Crystal Prince Crystal Prince
A competent chaser who’s in decent form of late and will benefit the current race conditions. No disgrace in his last at Huntingdon but seems to belong in class 5 so this drop in class a big plus. Past stats show no real spark in him up until Felix De Giles came on board around early April delivering promising results in face of previous failures, booked with him once more which is one of the most significant factors here. Yet to prove on course or distance however gave a good 2nd here in October, now running 19 and half furlong as oppose to latest starts where running 21 to 22 furlongs and might benefit this slight drop in trip as made nice impression over these distances. Weighted same as his January races where running well so no issue here and having the going to his liking. Opposed by Ilongue which shows improvement but is far from consistent and now experiences a  rise in allocated weights which might hold him back. Another possible rival is Bohemian Rock which came 3rd in last two starts but is obviously affected by carried weights and current rise will surely make it difficult for him.

Came 4th -1 point

*Note: Mister Watzisname, stable mate for Crystal Prince, had things going very wrong for him since falling late October but showed a spark of returning in his last and cannot be denied from his past form. A small e/w saver on him would be appropriate in addition to the 1 point stake on current selection as having a strong feeling about him and his chances in this race.

Wincanton

2.25 – #1 Midnight Opera Midnight Opera
Gave a mediocre run in his last but can be excused for running handicap debut at class 3 almost 4 months since his last race, a maiden where he won. Back to class 4 now which is a big plus, proven on distance and though going seems to be a disadvantage, last run wasn’t all too bad with the 31 lengths from the winner can be more related to the race’s class and the horse coming off a break than the going itself.  Mark Quinlan is booked with the 5 year old same as last 5 starts, doing well with him and will use his experience to bring the best out of the horse. Waldovogel the danger, a recent novice winner also proven on distance and booked with A P McCoy, all pose a great threat to Midnight Opera, hopefully the two months break for the former will hold him back as he shakes off dust.

2 point win @ 7/2 with Bet365
Won @ 4/1 +8 points

2.55 – #3 January January
Pulled up last time but can be excused for coming off a 4 months break. Down in allocated weights which should help him ease his pace and jumping on the good to firm going. Proven on distance and booked with Steven Clements which has yet to win on course but presents nice SR for chase and with only three races at course behind him this could the chance for him to up the stats. Opposed by Trooper Clarence who is now 8lb higher than recent Kempton chase and carries top weights for this run. Can also be threatened by Catholic Hill which seems to have some sort of consistency in him but is still a maiden and runs 2lb out of mark.

1 point win @ 5/1 with Bet365
Won @ 9/2 + 4.5 points

3.25 – #1 Daybrook BedouinDaybrook Bedouin
running well in his last chases including a decent 3rd in his last running a 16 runner field at class 3. A smaller field now proven on distance and dropped to class 4, carries top weights as bearing highest mark but made a good 2nd here early February carrying 5lb less so no real worry here. Fitted with cheekpieces for the first time, may be the factor to elevate him from 2nds and 3rds to a win. Booked with Steven Clements, team up doing well in recent starts and should go well once more. Serious danger in the form Choumakeur, a top form chaser with course and distance achievements who went up 12 lb in weights but carries no more than 5lb more than his last, where winning. However, recently coming off a long break of more than year and only two starts since then, there is a chance he’ll fall in the trap of losing freshness.
